1. You Must See We - It is important to see one another as whole people. Too often, we see each other as transactional. If we are to discover the gifts of one another as friends, we must see, have conversation, and notice.2. Learning Is Key - To learn the way is the way we live. We take journeys together. We must fail to gain our freedom and we document what we learn.3. Rules Must Be Broken - We break rules that stifle creativity and celebrate relationships that emerge from rules we buried. We reflect on our trauma together, and we heal together.4. Love Is What We Strive For - We see love, not hate, in the lives of the people we serve. Wehonor it, build on it, and ask people to give the gifts of what they love.5. This Is Personal - We get personal to find the threads in people lives. We ask what fuels them,who supports them, who believes in them, who loves them, and who they love.6. Develop a Gift Economy - Getting people to share their gift is critical. It is why we discoverthem.7. Follow the Story As Well As the Investment - When we only check boxes, when we only lookat quantitative data to measure what works or does not work, we miss out on vital qualitativeinformation. Art, poetry, and stories reveal important threads for community capacity building.
